Mastics and adhesives are used to attach and seal insulation. They are an important part to providing a complete insulation system.
Weather barrier coatings
Weather barrier coatings are a durable water-based mastic for most types of insulation. It can be applied both indoors and outdoors. It can be used to coat fiberglass, polystyrene board, closed cell polyethylene, and polyurethane foams in mechanical and industrial applications. When it’s cured it can resist most common chemicals and solvents. It is non-flammable and contains no solvents that will attack the insulation or facing. Due to its low viscosity application can be done by brush and creates a smooth finish. It comes in 1-, 2-, and 5-gallon pails for varying job sizes.

water based finish
Water-based finish is a white acrylic coating that has been designed to be applied to elastomeric rubber insulation. It provides a clean white finish that protects against UV damage outdoors and provides a clean decorative finish for indoor applications. It has been engineered to be more durable and flexible to resist cracking in cold weather. Application is done with a brush to create a smooth finish on the rubber insulation.
Rubber adhesive
Rubber adhesive is contact adhesive used to seal the seams of elastomeric rubber insulation. This adhesive can also be used to adhere sheet and roll insulation directly to tanks, and metal ducts. This adhesive allows the insulation to be fully sealed and protects the piping and the equipment from corrosion. It comes in ½ pint and 1 pint with the brush tops, and 1-quart and 1-gallon pails.
PVC GLUE
PVC glue is a low VOC adhesive that has been designed to glue the seams of PVC jacketing. It can be used to seal the edge of both 20 and 30 mil jacketing. It can seal in 10 minutes with a full cure time of 8-10 hours depending on temperature and humidity. PVC glue comes in either white or clear to match the white or color PVC and is applied with either a glue bottle or glue gun.
